Fostering community and supporting research by scholars of inequality, at Princeton and beyond.
Ellora Derenoncourt, Assistant Professor of Economics at Princeton University, is the founding director of PRI. Her research focuses on labor economics, economic history, and the study of inequality.
Recently, she has studied the northern backlash against the Great Migration, the role of minimum wages in racial earnings inequality, and the long-run evolution of the racial wealth gap. Her current work focuses on the effect of labor market institutions on low wage workers and the impact of criminal justice policy on labor market inequality.
The Program for Research on Inequality (PRI) aims to foster community among scholars of inequality in economics, at Princeton and beyond, and to actively support research in this area. PRI elevates the work of our affiliated faculty, supports graduate student research on inequality, connects interested undergraduates with the research community, hosts visitors, and holds conferences, among other activities.
The Program for Research on Inequality is a group of faculty in Princeton’s Economics Department who share an interest and research focus on inequality and global issues. See our faculty members.
PRI faculty members have focused their research on topics such as labor economics, development economics, higher education, income inequality, and global economics. See research from PRI faculty.
The Program for Research on Inequality (PRI) at Princeton Economics is pleased to invite grant applications from Princeton Economics PhD students for research connected to two streams of research—racial equity in the economy and inequality in labor markets. Learn more.
